Meaning: The meaning  behind this image is from light to dark but well travelling though this you also experience The War, The Fly and The Ink-pot. Its called War

Image Selection:
I choose an image of a soldier, fly and inkwell. The soldier represents The Boss' son who dies in the war.  The soldier is facing the fly and inkwell because he is the reason behind the fly's suffering.  The fly is in the middle because it is the main event of the text. The reason behind the fly's suffering because of good and bad reasons; the fly would have died as it fell in the ink, but The Boss removed it, tortured it and eventually killed it. This was in response to his sons death. The fly's near death experiences were similar to the son who died in the war.

Colour Choice
 The colours represent the darkness of the story, meaning depression and death. The light means happiness and hope, and life. The black colour also represents the ink because it was involved in the fly's suffering and because the boss needs it for his job.

Text Choice
I choose the word war because it is a central theme of the text although it is not discussed much. I put the word up above because it was very important, it is an overall struggle; there was so much struggle above all else in the war. The story is all about this struggle or conflict. The characters struggle with grief, with life, with the war. There is a war inside of The Boss's head. He has internal conflict, which drives the story.

Why Bees Have Stingers

It was another wonderful day on which Apollo had his first job of the day. Rise the sun, onto the mortal realm and Olympus but not the underworld because of Hades. He hates Apollo no one really knows why but he does. As Apollo raised the sun something came for the depths of space and hit the sun send shards of the hot sun everywhere. One hit an enormous tree and curiously made a portal too small to fit a human but big enough for a bee. The smallest bee in the hive decided that he wanted to go looking for some plant and mistakenly walked into the sun portal. What happened inside the portal no one knows except the bee but he had died a long time ago. Where he landed we only know the name its name is Olympus where gods and goddess live no human nor animals as the bee wondered the lands of Olympus he flew by a Hephaestus the blacksmith of all the gods Hephaestus dropped something and it landed on the bee whose name we do not know. As he furiously try to free himself from this poison arrow that not only killed animals and humans but gods as well. He punched himself forward but then impaling Apollo with the arrow head. The bee was sent free of the arrow head and set off back home but he did not know the chaos he had caused. Apollo fell to the shock of all the people around him. He was carried into the place of Zeus. To Zeus’s shock he saw what the bee had done and fell into an endless pit of anger. He shouted as loud as he could and said “ I curse those who have done this to my Apollo they must have stingers that kill them as soon as the sting someone” and so bees were cursed to have stingers for as long as they were to live for Apollo’s almost death he didn’t die but he was very close to dying.

Our museum trip

Walt: Write a recount on what you did on the trip last week

A couple days ago team 5 had a museum trip with some workers from K.P.M.G about 39 approximately. After a lot of minutes waiting, getting into groups and struggling to fit things into bags we left Pt England and boarded a bus to go to the museum. My group was called Group D from Room 5 it was made up of Tha Zin, Jedida, Zaeeda and me ( Amira ).

When we arrived we were assigned a supervisor either a teacher, teacher aid or K.P.M.G worker. My group got Mitchell a K.P.M.G worker I thought he was the quiet type of person well the rest of the group were girls very very loud girls including me. To be honest I felt sad for him because of how we treated him we listened just not a lot and we complained a lot as well and sometimes we spent a little too long on a few activities.

One of my favourite parts of going to the museum was getting to see the Germanen war and spitfires ( It’s a type of plane ) and other types of plane as well. I loved looking at the spitfire I don’t know why but I found it very interesting and Mitchell liked going thought the war exhibit I believe. All though it was our first activity and we were one of the last groups to be given a supervisor ( Mitchell ) so we only had about 01 minutes to get to look though the war exhibit it was great fun but no one else really wanted to stay where I wanted to stay so it went by really quick.

Another thing that I found really interesting and fun was the winter gardens. Because when we went to the winter gardens I loved looking around at the beautiful flowers there was also another building with more tropical flowers and it was a lot hotter in the second building all though there were two yellow goldfish but i’m still not sure if they were Koi fish or not. There also was a frenery for fern and a little track for you to walk on and a little pond with some fish in it. But my favourite part about the Winter Gardens was a little area with a large hallway with a couple statues leading out to a balcony area. I sat on the little brick wall that was meant to be a rail but it was a great viewing point to look out from. I sat with a few friends from a different group and some people left to go and see some swans it did look like they were trying to fight them but they didn't they did also find a large tree that we have now made our new tree home.

The museum trip was great fun and it had its highs and lows. But I got to hang out with my friends possible make new one ad make fun new memories that I hope I never forget.

What we did

What is the topic for this term? The topic we have for this term ( term 4 ) is Life's a stage. It is about dancing, drama, acting and much much more. In team 5 we have a rotation for Life's a stage 5 classes 5 different dances, Room 5's doing Siva Samoa, Room 4's doing K pop, Room 3's doing Bus stop, Room 2's doing Cuban Casino and Room 1's doing German folk dancing.

My class ( room 5 ) has finished Siva Samoa and K pop in room 5 and room 4. The first week that we started doing rotation each student stayed in their homeroom class. Room 5 stayed in room 5 so we did Siva Samoa it was really fun but i'm not sure if it was the best because I haven't gone to every class yet. A couple of days we switched classes the students from room 5 went to room 4 room 4's students went to room 3 and every student from each class did the same.

When we arrived in Room 4 ( K pop ) most of the boys hated it but there was a few that didn't mind most of the girls on the other hand loved it in the end we all didn't mind it and had fun well most of us.
Things that I enjoyed but the two dances were being challenged to learn something new and learning it it all was fun and I enjoyed it but some of it was a bit challenging but I got though it in the end.

Things that I did find challenging was learn the dance moves because I sometimes have trouble remember stuff so I learnt the dance moves but I didn't remember them so it was challenging.

What i'm looking forward to for the rest of the term would be learn more different dances and seeing if I enjoy them or not.

A hard working learner

What is a hard working learner? Being a hardworking learner isn’t just being hard working there are lots of other things to it as well such as. Being able to collaborate, Listening and not being easily distracted. This essay will explain some ways to be a hard working student.

Do you think you are a hard worker? Though there are many ways to be a hard working leaner here are a few. Not being distracted by friends and people around you is a great way to start off. For example if you really need to finish off your work then try to ignore your friends or the people around you but after you have finished doing your work than you can talk to your friends and apologise and explain why you ignored them. But collaboration is a great second step into being hard working

Can you collaborate well with other people? Collaboration is a great skill to have in the outside world as well as in school. For example if you collaborate well in school you’ll be great at it later on in life. But there are tons of other ways to be a hard working student,

Do you listen to your teacher? Listening is a great skill. listening is one of the best skills to have if you want to be a hard worker. If you do that’s awesome but if you don’t that’s fine but you really should because if you don’t hear what the teacher is telling you and you go off to work and have no idea what to do your never going to finish your work. But that is one three of the many ways to be a hard working learner.

Having these skills are great for the outside world it will really help you to be a life long learner

Did you know that jack-o-lanterns were originally carved into turnips. Jack-o-lanterns are called jack-o-lanterns because of ,a man named jack who had tricked the devil but when jack died the devil cursed him and forced him to roam the earth as a strip with only a burning coal to light his way, As Jack was roaming around he put the burning coal in a craved turnip. But after immigration happen and the jack-o-lantern transferred to America since the pumpkin was more available the changed to from a craved turnip to a craved pumpkin.

What’s the history of Halloween do you know? Well if you don’t read on to find out. Though most people find Halloween a scary holiday but it actually started of from a lot of romance. Apple bobbing originate from people try to see if they would get married the first person the get the apple without there hands would be married. People would also hang wet sheets in front of fires to see there future husband or young woman would peel an apple in one long strip and throw it over there shoulder it should of landed in the first letter of there future husband’s name. But people would also bake Halloween cakes with a ring and a thimble if you got the slice with the ring you would be married within the year if you the the slice with the thimble you would be unlucky in love.

Have you ever felt that you could have done better in a single sex schools? There are pros and cons of attending single sex schools: boys will learn to socialise and talk more from girls, but girls can be distracted by the boys drama and bullying. This essay will be explain the good and the bad of being in a same sexed school or being in a Co-Education school.

Do you think that boys learn to speak more from girls? Normally boys are very shy but scientific studies have shown that boys learn to speak up more when socialising with girls because girls speak many many more words. Scientists have found that woman speak 20,000 words per day well men only speak around 7,000 words per day. But girls can also be distracted by boys.

Have you ever been distracted by boys around you? Though boys can be the best of friends at times it can be more distracting in class. For example in class boys can be talking with there friends and it’s the most distracting thing because it’s so loud, this often distracts people from there work. But bullying is also a problem.

Have you ever been bullied by someone who wasn’t the same gender as you? Though you can be bullied by someone who is the same gender as you. For example Your a nerdy person and a boy randomly walks up to you and starts bulling you is not the bes t but in a single sex school it not likely to happen. But you can be bullied by someone who is the same gender as you.

To conclude this essay single sex schools have there pros and cons but so do Co-Education school so you choice if there good or bad.

Do we really need to have holidays?

Have you ever felt as though there are never enough holidays in the year? We could learn more if we had less holidays. However, If we socialise with our friends or family, then we can learn to have social skills and can communicate with others and won’t feel isolated. We can also relax in the holidays and have a clear mind when we come back to school.

Have you ever thought of having less holidays? If we did than we could learn more with more hours of school. For example if we had a least two more hours of school we could have two more hours of learning and we could finish our work or learn more. Though there are bad things that could happen if we did have more school time.

Do you ever think that you spend to much time reading books? Well reading books is great for learning and increasing your reading level but it has bad effects as well. For example if we spend to much time reading books and not socialising with other people we may never have enough socialising skills to talk to people and that is horrible. But we there are also great reasons for having holidays.

Have you ever felt more refreshed after the holidays? Children need holidays to relax and clear there mind before school starts. For example school can be really forced but if you slowly get into the groove of school than it’s easier to learn. But that doesn’t always happen.

School holidays are great but they can be bad at the same time so school holidays have its ups and downs. So you chose if you want more holidays or less holidays or should stay the same.

Introduction: Have you ever thought of your family pet being tortured to death? Me neither, but for many many animals around the world this is their reality. This essay will be exposing the awful truth about animal testing.

1: Dangerous testing
Do you think that animal testing is dangerous not just to the animal but to us as well? Most people can get hurt or even die because of misleading animal testing. For example, most animals are toxic to things that we aren’t or we’re toxic to things animals aren’t. But there are other ways to test cosmetics and other products.

2:  Alternate ways of animal testing
Do you think that there other ways to test cosmetics and other products? Surely with all the technology that we have designed and made, there has got to be something we can use to test cosmetics and other products. But we can just use the ingredients that aren’t toxic to us and use those ingredients to make new cosmetics. But if one company wants to make it then another company will too.

3: Different companies are doing the same tests
Have you ever found two cosmetic products from two different companies? Though it’s mostly because companies don’t tell the media about the new products that there making. For example if a really big company decides to make a new cosmetic product and they don’t tell the media then another company decides to make it. Both company’s are animal testing on innocent animals. But it could be worse.

Conclusion:
To conclude this essay of this topic. There are lots of good and lots of bad though animal testing is bad to some people and is good to others. We should dial down on animal testing for a bit and try other types of testing. So let’s dial down on the animal testing and maybe find other ways to test cosmetics and continue doing a bit of animal testing along the way.

Have you ever been hurt while playing rugby? If you have then read on to find out some reasons why rugby is good and bad. Some people believe that rugby is a dangerous sport but it’s also takes away the fun from those who love to play rugby. This essay will explain the good and the bad about rugby.

Have you or your kid been sent home from school because they had got hurt while playing rugby? For example kids have been sent home because of injuries such as a concussion or a broken leg but that is small things. Bigger injuries can happen while playing, such as a broken neck which can lead to more drastic injuries or even death. But that doesn’t always happen and there are many benefits from playing rugby.

Did you know rugby is a great source of exercise? Rugby is a well known sport in New Zealand and is a great way to get kids to exercise. Well many kids hate the fact that we have to exercise but because rugby is so fun most kids don’t realise that there doing exercise. But that isn’t always the case some kids just won’t play.

Have you accidentally hurt someone who wasn’t playing the same game as you? This normally happens more often in a crowded field where smaller kids are playing around bigger kids. Smaller kids often fall and bump into things, but kids being so small often aren’t seen so when an older and bigger person is going to tackle someone and a smaller kid is behind the person about to be tackled, the smaller kid often ends up on the floor crying because the older bigger person landed on them and it made the smaller person cry because it hurt a lot. But this is rare and it doesn’t always happen.

Though rugby can be bad in lots of ways it can also be the best thing ever in a lot of ways too. So rugby is bad but it’s also good so rugby is a okay sport it has its ups and downs.

How well did I manage my time?
In the start of the wood workshop I didn't manage my time well one week I did nothing for the whole time we were there and in the middle and towards the end I got a lot better at managing my time

What design ideas did I have?
I had a total of 10 ideas 1 that wouldn't work and 1 that was unknown
but the other 8 was a Bus, a treasure box, a jeep, a plane, a boat, a old car, a pencil holder and a piano a piano is the project I finished

what was the final choice I had made?
I decided to make a piano for my older cousin

What is a working drawing?
A working drawing is a drawing that you make before making something with wood so that if you make a mistake on the drawing you can fix it easily but you can't fix it easily on your project

Was it hard to mark out the lines for your project?
It was hard at first to get it straight and correct but the more I did it got a whole lot easier

Was it hard to saw?
It was very hard to saw but it's different for everyone some people find it easy and some people don't

Was it hard to chisel?
It was really hard to chisel and Mr Grundy made it look so easy but I guess it's because he has been doing this longer than I have and it was way harder than it looked

Was the assembly hard?
The assembly wasn't that hard but it wasn't equal. All we had to do was glue it all together

Does my piano work?
My piano does work because it had to have a lid that worked and it does

Does it look good?
I think that my piano looks great

Is there anything that I would change if I was to make it better?
I think I would change the joints and make it a bit more straight

How to be a great grandchild?

How to be a great grandchild?

Have you ever wanted to be a good grandchild? If you have then this essay will introduce some ways to be a better grandchild. Some of the ways to be a better grandchild are listening, always doing what you're told to do and being helpful around the house.

One way to be a good grandchild is to always listen to what they say. For example when grandma or grandpa tell you to go and do the dishes you do it, don’t hang around and complain just do it. This will show how you value what they say and do. But that is only one way to be good grandchild.

Another way to be a good grandchild is to always be helpful. For example whenever grandma or grandpa has come home from the supermarket and groceries in the boot of the car help them and help take the groceries inside. This will show your affection for them and it will show respect and they may trust you more. But there are lots of other ways to be a good grandchild.

Do you always do what you are told ? For example have you ever been told to turn off your technology like phones, computers and tablets if you do then your grandparents would trust you more and could maybe even let you play on your device longer. That’s the last way to be a good grandchild in this essay but there are many many more.

Technology wood part 2

THE STEP BY STEP PROCESS

Step 1: I used a piece of wood, a pencil, paper and a ruler to make a full size working drawing of my piano because if I make a mistake on my drawing I can fix it but if I make a mistake on the piece of wood it's really hard to fix.


Step 2: I used a ruler and a pencil to copy the measurements from my drawing onto my piece of wood to start making my piano.


Step 3: I marked a square line ( at 90 degrees ) across and down the sides using a Tri-square and a pencil onto my piece of wood.


Step 4: I cut off the first piece of wood using a backed saw and a bench hook.


Step 5: I then marked out the joint using a Ruler, a Tri square and a pencil.


Step 6: I then cut the sides of the joint out with a backed saw.


Step 7: I chiseled out the waste wood with a chisel in between the lines I had made with the backed saw to make a joint


Step 8: I checked to see if my joint worked by using my other piece of wood to check if it fit and it did


Step 9: I then went to ask for another piece of wood for my second join that I was going to make


Step 10: I then measured out the second joint for the other side of my piano using a pencil, a Tri-square, a ruler and a piece of wood


Step 11: After that I cut the sides of my second joint with a backed saw and a bench hook


Step 12: I then chiseled out the waste wood in the middle the finish off my second joint


Step 13: I checked to see if my second joint worked by using my other piece of wood to check if it fit and it did


Step 14: After I put my longest piece of wood in the two joints I had made I gave my work to Mr Grundy and he glued my longest piece of wood into my two joints and he told me to let it dry for half and hour


Step 15: After my wood work dried I gave my work to Mr Grundy Because I need to cut out some weird shapes on the sides of my project


Step 16: After Mr Grundy had finished cutting the weird shapes out of my piano. He glued a very thin piece of wood on the back of my piano and it didn't go all the way to the end of the back of my piano. But it wasn't stable enough so Mr Grundy but four tacks into each corner to make it more stable


Step 17: After my piano had dried Mr Grundy toke out the tacks from my piano


Step 18: Then I got a extra piece of wood for the front of my piano to cover the extra space I didn't need

Step 19: The after all of that I had to mark out the lines for my keyboard using a ruler a tri-square made out of wood and a black coloured sharpie

Step 20: After that I got a extra thin piece of wood for my lid

Step 21: Then I gave my work to Mr Grundy because I didn't know what to do so he got a extra piece of wood for the inside of my lid and he cut and shaved it into shape so it would fit on the thin piece of wood and also to see if it would fit inside of the space in the piano that I did need then he glued it together.

Step 22: After my work had finished drying I then gave it to Mr Grundy and he found some pieces of wood that he was going to make pedals for me to put on my piano so after he had finished making them he glued them on

Step 23: After the pedals dried I gave my work to Mr Grundy because I didn't know what to do next. He then got another piece of wood for the knob on top of my lid to finish of my piano

What we did at tech

Today I finished my drawing for ideas for my hard materials so I decided to make a piano because i love a challenge and i made it for my cousin because she loves music because the piano. will be hard to make. so I started to make it out of wood today it really is hard to saw wood and tomorrow i'm going to start on my joint.

Technology wood

I chose to make a piano for my older cousin who is 21 years for her birthday she is turning 22. This was the best choice because I love a challenge and my older cousin loves music and because it will be a challenge to make. It will be used as a ornament and as a place to hide stuff that she wants to from everyone else because everyone always steals stuff from her room. I will need to consider that my older cousin babysits so I will need to make it safe to be around a baby. This will be placed in her room. I will need to consider it being sanded down so she doesn't get hurt and so the baby's don't get hurt.

Today we had a immersion assembly to start off the term and to learn the topic question for the new term. The new topic question for the whole school is I like your latitude that is a pun and the new topic question for team five is where in the longitude are you. So have you ever been or ever heard of a immersion assembly before.

So team five did a play to explain what team five was going to do this term it's term 2 by the way. They did a play where someone ( played by Miss Tapuke ) walks into a travel agency and is given a button aka a fly smacker to pick what country they want to go to so  Miss Tapuke picked to go to Europe and meet a new person in Paris a Parisian after a chat and a look around she goes off to north america to ... Disney land to meet a american that loves Micky mouse
so a chat goes on as well as a look around then leaves to go to Africa to go on a safari to pet a lion so she did after all that excitement of petting a tiger she leaves to go and learn about The Great Wall Of China in Asia after that she leaves to go home in New Zealand.

My favourite teams topic were team four and team three because team four are going to be learning about Star wars and other stuff as well but all i can remember them all I remember is they are going to be learning about Star wars that is a movie by the way. I liked team three's because the are going to be writing pick a paths or pick your own adventure which is when you write a story with options for the reader to pick what happens next. So those are the topics that I liked and why. Another thing that I liked was the homemade robot Mr Jacobsen made himself it took him all holidays to make it was so funny but yet so awesome and amazing

So that's about all I remember about immersion assembly and what i liked and or loved and really what happened. So if you do ever get to go or have been to a immersion assembly that was my experience with this years immersion assembly.
